DGA writer-director Salvador Carrasco has signed a contract with the prestigious agency Casanovas & Lynch to turn Juan Gabriel Vásquez's "The All Saints’ Day Lovers" into a feature film. Winner of nearly every major literary award and on the short list for the Nobel Prize of Literature, Vásquez is considered one of the most important Latin American novelists alive.
Set in Europe (the scene of Vásquez’s own self-imposed exile from Latin America), LOVERS evokes a singular mood and a tone imbued with hypnotic imagery. Vásquez is a humane, deeply insightful writer, and these stories leave one feeling transformed from the experience of reading them, with a greater vision of humanity and society, a greater understanding of relationships and of love.
LOVERS deals with marriage, love affairs, resentment, troubled pasts, and tender moments that reveal a person's whole history through the complexity of human relationships.
